Wizkid and Burna Boy win Grammys

The 63rd Grammy Awards was held last night.

African music superstars Wizkid and Burna Boy won at music’s biggest night, The Grammys. This was Burna Boy’s second Grammy nomination ad his ‘Twice as tall’ album is what gave him the win. he won in the  Best Global Music Album category. Wizkid’s contribution to the song ‘ Brown Skin Girl’ in collaboration with Beyoncé is what got him a Grammy, in the category of ‘Best Music Video’.

“This is a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world. And this should be a lesson to every African out there: no matter where you are, no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it no matter where you’re from, because you’re a king.” Burna Boy said in his acceptance speech. He was also one of the eight performers at the awards, performing his hit single ‘Ye’.

Because of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, there was no audience and performers were separated in five different stages. Beyoncé was the biggest winner of the night and it’s clear that the Academy awards belong to her. She is now the female artist with the most Grammy wins (28 in total).
