A woman from Majimbo Estate in Embu West Sub-county has been arraigned in an Embu court for being in possession of 30 rounds of ammunition.
Loise Muthoni, was arrested on July 19th this month with the bullets in a magazine after police invaded her house and was held at Itabua Police Station and charged with the offence
Muthoni who appeared before Embu Principal Magistrate, Henry Nyakwemba, denied the offence alleging the ammunition were left in her house by her boyfriend without her knowledge.
She then pleaded with the Magistrate to acquit her stressing she was innocent. However, the Principal Magistrate declined informing her to carry her own cross since she agreed to fall in love with somebody she did not know well.
Mr. Nyakwemba released her on a Sh100, 000 bond with a surety of similar amount or Sh. 50,000 cash bail that she pleaded for reduction.
Declining to lower the bond terms, the Magistrate said the offence of being found with ammunition was very serious.
“You should have investigated the character of your boyfriend before falling in love with him. I can’t reduce the bond because what you are telling the court cannot be ascertained since the dangerous items were allegedly found in your house,” emphasized Nyakwemba.
He fixed the hearing of the case for August 19th this year.
