Woman, daughter rescued from abductors in Siaya

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers based in Ugunja, Siaya have nabbed five suspects linked to the abduction of a woman and her two-year old daughter.

The two victims were reported missing a week ago. Police say they were staying at a relative’s house at Sindindi area days before their mysterious disappearance.

The detectives, who were acting on a tip off raided two separate houses within Luanda Township in Siaya where the two victims had been confined. In the process five suspects who are said to have masterminded the kidnapping were nabbed.

“The five aged between 18 and 29 years include an 18-year-old woman who kept custody of the juvenile as the mother was held separately over un-established motives,” said the DCI.

A Toyota Premio which the victims are said to have been hurled into during the November 2nd abduction was also recovered.

Further investigations are ongoing as detectives believe the gang is behind a spate of violent robberies reported within the County.

Elsewhere, a former police officer suspected to be involved in the mysterious disappearances of mobile phone exhibits in Nairobi has been arraigned in court.

The suspect, Moses Omondi Gangre and his alleged girlfriend will remain in police custody for two days to pave way for completion of investigations.

According to the DCI, the ex-cop was dismissed from service on grounds of gross misconduct, and has a pending criminal case at Kitui Law Courts.

“Their arrest followed investigations launched to establish how exhibits in several active criminal cases went missing while in police custody,” said the DCI.

Forensic analysis led officers to a supermarket next to Nairobi’s GSU Drive-in camp, where the 30-year-old female suspect was nabbed.
