Wananchi Group’s home entertainment brand Zuku Satellite will broadcast live all the remaining matches of this year’s National Sevens Rugby Circuit.
The eleven series competition kicked off with the Masaku Sevens on July 9-10th 2016 followed by the Elgon Cup on July 30th 2016.
Beginning with the Prinsloo 7s on August 6-7th 2016 (Time: 9:00-18:00), Kabeberi 7s on August 13-14th 2016 (Time: 9:00-18:00) and Driftwood 7s on August 20-21st 2016 (Time: 9:00-18:00), all the matches will be televised live.
Others are International Test-Kenya vs Hong Kong on August 27th 2016( Time 14:00), Dala’s 7s on September 3-4th 2016 (Time:9:00-18:00), Christie 7s on September 10-11 2016 (Time: 9:00-18:00), Nanyuki on September 7s 17-18th 2016 (9:00-18:00) and Safari 7s/Rugby Africa Sevens on September 24-25th 2016 (Time: 9:00-18:00).
Commenting on the planned live broadcasts of the National Sevens Rugby Circuit, Jay Chudasama DTH Managing Director Wananchi Group acknowledged the tremendous contribution rugby has played in the development of the country including employment creation and nurturing young talent.
He underscored Zuku’s commitment in partnering with Kenya Rugby Union to show the matches live on Zuku Sports Channels 300/301 live streaming on http://zuku.co.ke/live.
The sponsorship in live coverage is valued at Kshs. 250 million- spread over a five year period 2013-2018, and is part of Zuku’s content development strategy that will see the firm increase its local programming as a way of boosting the local production industry.
Zuku has also sponsored other sporting properties in basketball and volleyball over the recent past.
The deal goes a long way in bringing rugby fans closer to their teams across East Africa and beyond given Zuku television’s presence and extensive reach.
