Kitale Film Week CEO, Peter Bwire, has unveiled this year’s panel of jurists for the 8-day event scheduled to take place from February 22 to March 1.
The 2026 jury features renowned filmmakers from across the continent, which includes FilmJoint founder Gbenga Adeoti, Trinidad and Tobago’s Michael Mooleedhar, Kenyan industry staple Chloe Genga, and Tunisian distribution maven Farah Souai.
The annual event, which aims to champion film for change by highlighting human rights, nature, and climate justice through powerful African cinema, will be steered by veteran Kenyan film executive Mudamba Mudamba.
“Through its inclusion of the Film in Education initiative, Youth Critics Circle, NextGen Filmmaking Workshop, and the North Rift and Western Kenya Film & TV Summit, the festival nurtures talent, drives policy dialogue, and connects local stories to global opportunities,” the statement released by organisers said. “Kitale Film Week is more than a festival; it’s a movement to build a vibrant, sustainable, and globally competitive African screen industry from the heart of Kenya.”
Following a week of screenings, workshops and diverse programs, the event will conclude with a marquee awards ceremony on March 1 at the Deepsea Resort in Kitale to crown the year’s winners.
