Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga has called on the dental profession to urgently address long-standing gaps in access, equity, and public trust in oral healthcare.

The PS spoke on Thursday during the launch of the Kenya Dental Association (KDA) 2026–2030 Strategic Plan in Nairobi.

He noted that despite KDA’s 65-year history, millions of Kenyans have never accessed dental services, citing recent preventable incidents as evidence of systemic failures that require collective responsibility.

Dr. Oluga urged the profession to move beyond visibility and anchor advocacy in evidence, social commitment, and clearly defined public health problems.

He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage and the Social Health Authority, calling for alignment with national health reforms and the development of a people-centred national blueprint to expand access to oral healthcare across all communities.
