India’s Motor Company TVS, launches racing machine TVS Apache in Kenya

This year, TVSM celebrates 20 years of Apache, which has grown into a strong community and set new standards in design, engineering, and technology.

India’s motor company TVS, in partnership with Car and General, has launched a local assembly operation in Kenya for high end motorcycles, with the facility set to produce 700 units daily and generate over 1,300 direct jobs annually.

Initially, the assembly will focus on models aimed at the Kenyan market and the broader East African region.

The TVS Apache RTR 180 model, unveiled in Nairobi, is a perfect fusion of power, precision, and performance, drawing from 43 years of TVS racing legacy.

It features a 177.4cc high-performance engine, delivering 15.22 PS at 8,500 RPM and 14.1 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM.

During the launch event in Nairobi, Peyman Kargar, President of International Business at TVS Motor Company, stated, “Kenya is pivotal to TVSM’s continental goals, given its status as a regional commercial hub and its impact on motorcycle culture throughout East Africa. The nation’s expanding community of discerning riders and developing urban infrastructure make it an ideal market for the Apache’s introduction. This initiative further reinforces TVSM’s dedication to providing Kenyan consumers with products that enhance their mobility aspirations and fit their lifestyles. With the launch of the new premium motorcycle – TVS Apache RTR 180, we strengthen our commitment to offering performance-driven, premium mobility solutions across Africa. The product is crafted with a blend of racing-inspired power and technology, combined with comfort, durability, and efficiency. There is significant potential in this market, and through our robust partnership with Car & General, we aim to continue expanding our presence in Africa.”

It includes disc brakes and adjustable race-tuned suspension, ensuring an exhilarating riding experience.

The motorcycle boasts a beast-inspired LED headlamp, tubeless tires with a wider rear tire, a 5-speed gearbox, and more, establishing it as a true benchmark in its category.
