Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has refuted allegations that Kenya facilitated the formation of a parallel government for Sudanese factions within its borders.

Speaking Tuesday during a quarterly diplomatic briefing, Mudavadi asserted that the charter signed by the Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) was unrelated to forming any parallel government on Kenyan soil.

Mudavadi reaffirmed Kenya’s history as a neutral facilitator in peace processes across Africa, citing its roles in Angola, South Sudan, and Somalia.

Mudavadi reiterated calls for a peaceful and united Sudan, affirming that Kenya remained committed to facilitating mediation efforts between the two factions.

At the same time Mudavadi affirmed Kenya’s commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts in Sudan, despite Khartoum’s recent move to suspend Kenyan imports, including tea.

Mudavadi said Kenya remains steadfast in offering humanitarian aid to Sudan in good faith.
