Seven-time champions Egypt, who narrowly lost to Senegal in the semifinals, will take on three-time champions Nigeria, who were defeated 4-2 on penalties in their semifinal match by the hosts Morocco.

The Super Eagles are aiming for a record ninth bronze medal, having first claimed it against Egypt 50 years ago, and currently hold the record for the most bronze medals.

Nigeria secured third place in 1976, 1978, 1992, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2019.

Meanwhile, the Pharaohs have won three bronze medals (1963, 1970, and 1974) from six bronze matches, winning three and losing two.

Today’s encounter marks the 10th meeting between these sides at the AFCON, with Nigeria leading with five victories against Egypt’s two, alongside two draws.

Saturday’s match will be the 21st meeting between these football powerhouses, with the Super Eagles having recorded eight wins, two more than their opponents, while six meetings have ended in draws.

The match is set to kick off at 5 pm Moroccan time, equivalent to 7 pm Kenyan time.
