UDA unveils candidates for Ward by-elections in Embu County

Kenya’s ruling party, the United Democratic Party (UDA) Party has announced two aspirants that it will field in the forthcoming by-elections in Embu County.

UDA through a statement on their official social media accounts named Duncan Mukang’u Jnr and Peterson Njeru Njiru (Weche) at Evurore and Muminji Wards respectively during the by-election set for 26th February, 2026.

“The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party will be fielding Duncan Mukang’u Jnr and Peterson Njeru Njiru (Weche) at Evurore and Muminji Wards during the by-election on 26th February, 2026,” read the statement.

The party commended the two aspirants for courage and commitment to leadership—taking a significant step towards representing and serving our people as members of the County Assembly.

The development comes after the two Wards were declared vacant by Embu County Speaker Josiah Thiriku last year after its former holders resigned to vie for the Mbeere North Parliamentary seat.

Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, the UDA’s National Chairperson joined the two party’s flag bearers as they submitted their nomination papers at Siakago IEBC offices Friday afternoon.

Elsewhere, the race for the Isiolo South Parliamentary seat is underway after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) began certifying candidates who have expressed interest in contesting the seat.

The certification process marks the start of formal preparations for the by-election, as aspirants complete necessary requirements to be cleared for the ballot.

Residents and political observers say the contest is expected to be closely watched, given the strategic importance of the constituency.

Returning officer for Isiolo South Constituency Abdi Mohammed announced Tubi Mohammed Tubi to have certified all the necessary requirements to vie for the seat through the UDA party who will fight it out with his sister Bina Tubi from the Jubilee party and a former Kinna Ward MCA Isaac Fayo of National Economic Development Party of Kenya that is Led by former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko
