Livestock PS Jonathan Mueke toured Nuu Market in Mwingi Central, Kitui County where he delivered 100 beehives to women groups in a move that has been termed by many as a major boost to beekeeping and household livelihoods.

The initiative is set to strengthen income generation for the locals through honey production and related value chains, while promoting self-reliance at the community level.

This, it seeks to achieve, by reinforcing women empowerment, enabling more women to participate meaningfully in agribusiness and drive transformation in their households and communities.

At the event, PS Mueke was joined by former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu alongside the leadership of Paza Sauti Foundation and Konza Technopolis in a show of strong partnership towards empowering communities.

Beekeeping is a smart, climate-friendly enterprise for Arid and Semi-Arid (ASAL) regions requiring minimal water while providing reliable returns thus making it ideal for strengthening resilience and food security.
