Congo will be making its 5th appearance at this year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania between 2nd and 30th August.

Having reached the quarter finals in both 2018 and 2020,the Red Devils will be looking to improve on their performance    in the East African CHAN tournament.

Congo has a blend of experienced players and emerging talents and is well-positioned to go further in the tournament.

The Federation FECOFOOT was suspended by FIFA in February and reinstated in May  this year, leaving the Red Devils as the only side out of the 19 teams competing in CHAN with very little time to prepare for CHAN.

How they Qualified

Congo dispatched Equatorial Guinea to book their ticket in a close contest.

They drew 0-0 away before finishing the job at home with a 2-1 victory.

On June 28th, Congo started its preparations for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) by setting up a residential camp at the Congolese Football Federation’s Technical Centre,  45 km from Brazzaville.

Congo will open their Group D campaign against Sudan at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar on the 5th of next month before playing defending champions Senegal a week later before winding up their group matches on the 19th against Nigeria.
