Group stage matches are drawing to a conclusion at the 8th African Nations Championship co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

A total of 32 matches have been played with 67 goals scored so far.

With 10 matches to go Ouassama Lamlioui of Morocco leads the race for the golden boot with 3 goals.

10 other players have scored two goals each: Austin Odhiambo and Ryan Ogam, both from Kenya.

Mohamed Rabie Hrimat of Morocco, Tanzanian Clement Mzize, Lalaina Rafanomezantsoa of Madagascar, Allan Okello of Uganda and Algeria’s Sofiane Bayazid.

Others are Kaporal of Angola, Thabiso Kutumela from South Africa and Abdel Raouf of Sudan.

4 teams have qualified for the quarter-finals: Kenya, Morocco, Tanzania and Madagascar.

8 teams have been eliminated from the tournament, namely, Guinea, Niger, Nigeria, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, DR Congo, Zambia and Angola.

Group stage matches will conclude on Tuesday, 19th August, after which the tournament will take a 2-day break before resuming with the quarter-finals on 22nd and 23rd of this month.

The semis are scheduled for  26th August in Uganda and Tanzania, followed by the 3rd place play-off on  29th  in Uganda and the final on 30th in Kenya.
