Co-hosts Uganda Cranes will be carrying all of the East Africa region as they face defending champions Senegal in CHAN quarter-final three on Saturday evening after the other two co-hosts, Kenya and Tanzania, were kicked out yesterday.
The 5pm kick-off at the Mandela National Stadium Namboole will see the Cranes under the tutelage of Morley Byekwaso seek to advance to the semi-final for the first time in history after being eliminated in the group stage in all their past six appearances.
Uganda, who placed first in group C with seven points after winning two games, drawing one, and losing one, will mostly rely on their goal scorer, Allan Okello, who has already scored three goals.
The Teranga Lions of Senegal, on the other hand, won one game and drew the other two to finish second in Group D with five points.
Solid defence has been key for the Senegalese, who have scored 2 and conceded 1 goal in the tournament so far.
The winner of the clash will meet the two-time champions, Morocco, in next Tuesday’s semi-final at Namboole Stadium.
