Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced that the government is actively investigating reports indicating that Jubaland forces from neighbouring Somalia may have crossed into Kenya. He however clarified that, so far, there is no evidence of foreign troops operating on Kenyan soil.
Speaking in Busia during the launch of his Jukwaa la Usalama tour of Western Kenya, Murkomen reiterated that Kenya will not allow its sovereignty to be compromised. He assured the public that security agencies are on high alert to prevent any infiltration by criminal elements.
Murkomen also highlighted the strong relationship between Kenya and the Somali government, affirming that both nations will continue to collaborate closely to ensure regional peace and security.
At the same time, he cautioned politicians against exploiting security concerns for political gain, warning that irresponsible statements could provoke unnecessary fear and division.
Regarding the ongoing exhumation of bodies in Kwa Binzaro, Kilifi County, linked to suspected cult activities, CS Murkomen confirmed that Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has visited the site to gather facts. He urged Kenyans to promptly report any missing relatives to the authorities to avoid further tragedies involving extremist religious groups.
