Morocco will embark on manufacturing 1 million vehicles per year from 2026, targeting both African and European markets.
Speaking in Casablanca on Thursday during a meeting with a delegation of African journalists at the sidelines of the ongoing African Cup of Nations, the Confederation of General Enterprises in Morocco (CGEM) said the move will also open up investment opportunities in and outside Morocco.
Besides the investment, CGEM is planning to work with the government in realising trade partnerships with other African countries in order to tap into vast raw materials available in the respective countries.

According to CGEM Director of Communication Marwa Tellal, the association has also earmarked other possible ventures in Morocco in the renewable energy sectors and the Tangier Med Port as a key connection between entry points of Moroccan products into European markets.
CGEM is a private organisation that brings together business owners and entrepreneurs in Morocco who have expertise in different sectors.
The delegation of over 35 African journalists are on a two-week media tour organised by the Morocco National Association of Media and Publishers (ANME).
