Kenya and the Czech Republic Wednesday signed a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA), marking the culmination of discussions that began in 2019 and establishing a formal, structured, and comprehensive framework to guide and strengthen defence collaboration
The Agreement was signed by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya alongside Ambassador Nicol Adamcová, the Czech Republic’s Ambassador to Kenya at the Defence Headquarters.
Speaking during the signing in ceremony, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya reaffirmed the readiness to commence implementation of the DCA upon ratification.
“We stand ready to embark on implementation of the DCA upon ratification, guided by the spirit of mutual trust and our shared commitment to regional and international peace and security,” noted CS Tuya.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993, Kenya and the Czech Republic have maintained constructive and cordial relations, supported by resident Czech diplomatic representation in Nairobi with Defence cooperation increasingly becoming a central pillar of our bilateral engagement in the area of capacity-building and training.
The ceremony was witnessed by Stella Mokaya Orina, Kenya’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany (Accredited to the Czech Republic); the Assistant Chief of Defence Forces in charge of Operations, Plans, Doctrine and Training, Major General Fredrick Leuria; and other senior officials from the Ministries of Defence, Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, and the Czech Republic.
