Government to distribute childhood vaccines in regional depots from Friday

The government will commence the distribution of childhood vaccines to regional depots from Friday.

This following the arrival of the childhood routine vaccines worth Kshs 1.25 billion that were procured by the Ministry of Health to address the recent vaccine stockouts across the country.

According to a statement, Principal Secretary at the State Department for Medical Services Harry Kimtai is expected to receive the over 8 million doses of childhood vaccines at the Kitengela Central Vaccine Store in Kajiado County, Thursday afternoon.

The replenished vaccines include Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG), Oral Polio, Tetanus-Diphtheria, and Measles Rubella.

The ministry says the vaccines will be distributed to the nine regional vaccine stores from tomorrow, Friday.

Meru and Nyeri and Nairobi regional depots will receive the vaccines on Friday 07/06/2024 as well as Nakuru and Mombasa on Monday 10/06/2024.

Kisumu and Kakamega regional depots will receive the vaccines on Tuesday, 11/06/2024,  while Garissa and Eldoret will be on Wednesday 12/06/2024.
