All preparations are complete as Kenya gears towards hosting the African Nations Championship for the 1st time in history starting this Saturday, 1st, until 30th August.
In ensuring all boxes are marked in readiness for the tournament,Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya yesterday visited Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums as well as the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Kenya Airports Authority, in partnership with the Local Organising Committee (LOC), has implemented robust arrangements to ensure full compliance with protocols, clear signage, and efficient logistics for the arrival of delegations and visitors attending CHAN.
Designated areas at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have also been prepared to ensure seamless handling of all arrivals.
Among the guests who will be in Kenya for CHAN are match officials,Angola, DR Congo, Zambia, and Morocco players and their officials, as well as CAF delegations for both group matches and the final.
Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums will stage Group A fixtures starting this Sunday, withPolice Sacco, Ulinzi, and Kasarani Annex also being used by teams for training.
Kenya will open their Group A campaign on 3rd August against two-time champions DRC at Kasarani Stadium, while Morocco, who brags of winning the trophy two times, takes on Angola at 6pm in Nyayo Stadium on the
same day.
Morocco arrived early on Monday, while DR Congo team arrived early today from Tanzania where they have been pitching camp with Angola and Zambia expected to jet in later on Thursday.
The official opening ceremony and opening match will be staged at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, as hosts Taifa Stars face Burkina Faso at 8pm EAT.
