Double Olympic Champion Beatrice Chebet’s 5000m World Record has been ratified with just three days until the start of the 20th World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Chebet set the record on July 5th this year during the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League, when she clocked 13:58.06, becoming the first woman to run the 12.5-lap race in under 14 minutes.

The 25-year-old now holds four world records, including the 10,000 (28:54.14) set in July 2024, the women-only 5 km (14:13), and the mixed 5 km (13:54).
