Co-hosts, the Uganda Cranes, are back in action tonight at Mandela Stadium in a tough group C match against Niger in the 2024 TotalEnergies CHAN.
A win for the Cranes would put them in the hunt for a spot in the round of 8. Last week, they defeated Guinea 3-0 in group C matchday 2 of the CHAN.
Under the guidance of Morley Byekwaso, the Cranes had a poor start to the tournament after falling to silver medallist Algeria 3-0. This defeat puts them in second place on three points, one point behind leaders Algeria.
After losing to Guinea 1-0 in their first game, the Menas of Niger are currently at the bottom of the group.
Ugandans will depend on the home crowd that helped the CHAN hosts advance thus far; Tanzania has already guaranteed their spot in thequarterfinals, and Kenya is almost certain to qualify.
The South Africa vs. Guinea encounter will start at 5 p.m., followed by the Uganda vs. Niger match at 8 p.m.
South Africa will also be trying for a win in order to advance in the competition, while Guinea will be looking for a second win, which would increase their chances of making it to the knockout stage.
