Chinese health firm Fohow Group has celebrated its fifth anniversary in Kenya with a commitment to expand its presence in the country and the region.

The company’s founder, Yu Fei, cited Kenya’s climate, infrastructure, and strategic location as key factors in its expansion plans.

Speaking at the anniversary celebrations at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Yu announced that Fohow is considering making Nairobi its African headquarters and establishing a research and manufacturing base within the next five years.

“Kenya offers a favorable climate, welcoming people, and strong ties with China. These factors give us confidence that Kenya can provide a stable environment for long-term development,” Yu stated.

He added that the decision to host the East Africa anniversary in Nairobi was influenced by the country’s regional significance and cultural warmth.

Tina Kinuthia, the country manager for Fohow Kenya, noted that the anniversary event attracted more than 3,500 participants, highlighting the growing public interest. She observed an increase in participation by women, particularly due to opportunities in direct sales and distribution networks.

“Our products are complementary to conventional medicine and aim to boost immunity and help manage health conditions from the root cause,” she explained.

Peter Liu, General Manager of Fohow Africa, emphasized Kenya’s role as a business hub for East Africa, highlighting its infrastructure, internet connectivity, and logistics as significant advantages.

“Through Kenya, we can reach Uganda, South Sudan, DRC, Somalia, and Ethiopia. This makes Nairobi a natural choice for expansion,” Liu said, noting that the firm now has over 50,000 members across East Africa.

From a local perspective, Mike Njeru, a top distributor based in the Mount Kenya region, reported that the company’s products have gained popularity in rural areas where residents struggle with chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and arthritis.

He pointed to the government’s licensing of alternative health solutions as a vital step toward broadening healthcare access.

“In many villages, Fohow has provided solutions where conventional treatment options have been limited,” he remarked.

The company’s leaders expressed optimism that Kenya will continue to be one of Fohow’s fastest-growing markets in Africa, noting that the country currently ranks among its top three markets on the continent.
