Junior Starlets step up preps ahead of U17 World Cup qualifier against Namibia

The national women’s U17 Soccer team,Junior Starlets intensified its preparations ahead of their two legged FIFA U17 women’s world Cup qualifier against Namibia.

Junior Starlets are targeting to return to the world stage after debuting in 2024 in Dominican Republic.

Kenya will face Namibia away on April 12th before hosting the reverse fixture 6 days later in Nairobi.

‘’Every player is motivating one another,we all want to get to the world cup so we are all focused to getting there”, remarked Junior Starlets defender  Rose Nangila.

‘’I have learnt that this level is intense and we are learning a lot,we are adopting and hope to get our game to the next level.I feel proud for the call up and the honour to represent the country.I have played at the U15 level and you cant compare the two so am really enjoying the training and looking forward to helping Kenya reach the World Cup’’added midfielder Tabitha Wambui said

The aggregate winner will advance to the second round and could face either Zimbabwe or Uganda.The second round first leg matches are scheduled May 22nd-24th while return leg fiztures are set to be played on May 29th,30th,31st 2026.

If Kenya advances to the third and final round it could face the winner between Tanzania and Botswana and Central Africa Republic or South Africa

The 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World cup is slated for Morocco in October with a total of five teams set to represent Africa in the championship.
