Two presenters from the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation’s (KBC), Minto FM, have earned nominations at the upcoming Independent Kenya Women Awards (IKWA) 2025.

Vane Mogaka, a producer and presenter at Minto, has been nominated in the Presenter of the Year category, recognised for her compelling on-air presence and consistent dedication to public service broadcasting.

Speaking to KBC Digital about her nomination, Vane, who began her career at KBC in 2014, said she always strives to create a genuine connection with her audience.

“I believe my work has resonated with audiences because I’ve always strived to create a genuine connection with them. By incorporating relatable topics, engaging storytelling, and a blend of entertainment and information, I aim to reflect the interests and concerns of our community,” she said.

She also attributed her success to adapting to audience needs.

“I’ve listened to their feedback and adapted my approach accordingly, ensuring that every broadcast resonates on a personal level. This interaction cultivates a sense of trust and loyalty, making our listeners feel like they’re part of a larger conversation, which I think has significantly contributed to this recognition,” she said.

Similarly nominated is Minto FM’s Lydiah Nyairabu, host of the radio station’s mid-morning show.

Lydiah is among the nominees for Media Personality of the Year, honoured for her versatility and influential voice in the media landscape.

KBC Digital has reached out to Lydiah for comment.

The Independent Kenya Women Awards seeks to highlight women who are breaking barriers and making impactful contributions in their fields. From entrepreneurship to education, activism to media, the awards aim to honour those shaping Kenya’s future.

Expressing her gratitude to Minto FM’s fans, Mogaka said the listeners have been integral to her growth.

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my listeners and supporters. Your unwavering encouragement and feedback have been integral to my journey at Minto FM. It’s your enthusiasm that inspires me to push boundaries and continuously improve.

“This nomination is not just a personal achievement; it is a shared success that reflects the love and support of our community. I encourage you to keep engaging, sharing your thoughts, and being part of this incredible journey with me. Together, we can continue to grow and make a difference in the lives of our listeners,” Vane Mogaka concluded.

Voting is now open to the public here, and winners will be unveiled during a celebratory awards ceremony scheduled for June 2025.
