With medical insurance penetration in Kenya still below 10%, largely due to high costs and limited accessibility, a groundbreaking initiative has been launched to address this critical gap.

A tripartite agreement signed in Nairobi between Little Cab in partnership with Maisha Poa Insurance and BirdView Insurance introduces Mfanisi Go—a transformative health insurance solution crafted specifically for digital taxi drivers in Kenya.

Recognising the pivotal role drivers play in the nation’s mobility ecosystem, Mfanisi Go delivers affordable, comprehensive, and accessible health coverage, starting at KSh 82 per day or KSh 493 per week.

Through this initiative, over 150,000 drivers on Little Cab platforms will be able to access high-quality medical insurance—without paperwork, delays, or financial strain.

Underwritten by BirdView Insurance and designed by Maisha Poa Insurance, the cover allows drivers to get full medical coverage while paying in installments over 8 months and access over 100 hospitals and clinics located in major cities with up to five dependents under a single plan.

Through Little’s digital platform, drivers can enrol and manage their health insurance directly from the Little app. Payments are automatically deducted from trip earnings—simplifying the process and ensuring continuous coverage without financial disruption.

Additionally, the app includes a telemedicine feature, allowing drivers to consult with licensed doctors right from their vehicles or homes—at no extra cost.

“We are deeply aware of the everyday struggles our drivers face. Mfanisi Go is our way of saying we see you, we value you, and we’re building for you,” said Fred Okwara, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Little.

John Paul Otieno, CEO at Maisha Poa Insurance, added, “This initiative is about inclusion. We’re rewriting the story of medical insurance in Kenya—making it accessible, practical, and impactful.”
