Ngara Girls’ High School management has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding students enrolment and student welfare assuring parents and guardians that all admissions are conducted in line with the Ministry of Education guidelines and within approved capacity.
The administration, with the Board of Management, Parents’ Association and Alumnae Association, remains fully committed to the safety, wellbeing and academic success of every student.
In a statement, the school said it currently has approximately 1,300 students across Senior High School (Grade 10), Form Four and Form Three, noting that the numbers comply with government directives.
“The school notes with concern that the allegations circulating online are misleading and presented without full context and risk causing unnecessary anxiety among students and parents.” The statement read.
Adding that: “The school assures parents, guardians, stakeholders and the public that all admissions are conducted in line with the Ministry of Education guidelines and within approved capacity,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the existing classrooms, laboratories and other learning facilities are structured to support these numbers and the evolving demands of the Competency-Based Education.
While acknowledging challenges experienced in transitioning to the new curriculum, the management noted that it they have been addressed through proper alignment and accommodation measures.
“Like many institutions transitioning to the new curriculum the school experienced initial implementation challenges. However, these have been addressed through proper alignment and accommodation measures.” Read the statement.
Similarly, the management noted that phased infrastructure expansion, covering dormitories, laboratories, the library and kitchen facilities, is ongoing to sustainably support students while maintaining safety and learning standards.
Additionally, teaching, including practical and laboratory sessions, continue as scheduled.
The management assured that student welfare remains a priority adding that the students receive balanced meals, with consideration for special dietary needs.
Students also have access to appropriate communication and support channels whenever required.
