The Principal Secretary for Gender Affairs and Affirmative Action, Anne Wang’ombe, has condemned the horrifying rape and murder of 18-year-old Abigael Winner Wanjiku in Mwiki, Kasarani, describing the crime as “an act of unspeakable violence.”
Speaking after visiting Abigael’s grieving family, the PS expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.
“This heinous crime is a stark and painful reminder that Gender-Based Violence continues to plague our communities, and it must end,” she stated.
The PS affirmed the Government’s unwavering commitment to delivering justice, stating that law enforcement officials are actively pursuing the culprit so that he can face the law.
“We are working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that the perpetrator is tracked down, apprehended, and brought to book without delay,” she said, delivering a stern warning to perpetrators of GBV across the country:”There will be no hiding place for those who commit such atrocities,”
According to the PS, the Government is scaling up its efforts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence to ensure that “not one more life is lost.”
