Senators now want Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo summoned to appear before the senate plenary after it emerged that the County runs on two parallel County Assemblies.
While reacting to a statement by Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mogeni over the crisis in the assembly that has seen its affairs handled outside the Assembly.
Senators accused the Governor of deliberately undermining oversight in Nyamira and hence the need to hold him accountable
Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mogeni sought Senate’s intervention saying the crisis has paralyzed the county’s legislative affairs.
Governor Nyaribo is also on the spot over audit queries on some Ksh 5.58 billion expenditure.
Meanwhile, Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja was grilled by the Senate committee on Energy over the recent debt dispute between the county and the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) that degenerated into acts that brought the county government into disrepute.
And the National committee on appointments has until 24 of April to vet and submit its report on the suitability of two cabinet secretary nominees namely Geoffrey Ruto and Hanna Wendot Cheptumo.
Speaker Wetangula directed other relevant committees to vet Permanent secretaries and ambassadorial nominees and table report on their suitability by 23rd of April for debate and approval.
