A last-gasp goal by Mohamed Ben Romdhane was enough to ensure Tunisia beat Equatorial Guinea 1-0 to become the 2nd African nation to book their ticket for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in a tight Group H match played yesterday in Malabo.

Tunisia moved to an unassailable lead with 22 points from 8 matches, 10 ahead of their close opponents, Namibia.

Sami Trabelsi will be making their seventh appearance at the World Cup and 3rd in a row, with next year’s edition set to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.

The Carthage Eagles join their North African neighbours Morocco for the global football bonanza, with 7 more slots yet to be filled.
