Public voting for the 7th Women in Film Awards (WIFA) closes on February 16, 2026.

The awards shine a spotlight on female filmmakers, creators, and technical talent across film, television and digital content.

This year’s edition carries the theme “Access Granted: Women Filmmakers Driving Innovation in the Creative Economy,” reflecting a growing recognition of women as innovators and leaders in Kenya’s creative sector.

The awards also honour work that pushes boundaries and enriches the country’s cultural and cinematic landscape.

Featuring a five-person jury panel headed by Suki Wanza, the jury members seek to “actively advocate for greater inclusivity and representation within the industry. They strive to be catalysts for positive change, encouraging opportunities for women filmmakers and fostering an environment where diverse voices are heard.”

Audiences are encouraged to cast their votes via WIFA’s official platforms and social media channels, or by scanning the QR code featured on promotional materials.

Nominees represent a wide range of categories, from directing, producing and performance to cinematography, editing, costume design, sound, animation and digital content creation.

The breadth of categories underscores WIFA’s mission not only to recognise women in front of the camera but also to celebrate the many creative and technical roles that help bring stories to life.

Founded by Dr Susan Gitimu, WIFA has become a key platform for championing gender inclusion and acknowledging contributions that might otherwise go unnoticed in a male-dominated industry.

Winners will be announced at the Women in Film Awards Kenya gala on March 13, 2026, in Nairobi, where the achievements of women across Kenya’s creative economy will be celebrated.
