Zetech University has been honoured with the Best Student-Led Club Award by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) during the Commercialisation and Entrepreneurial Institutional Leaders (CEIL) Summit 2025, in recognition of its outstanding role in championing student-driven innovation.
The accolade, presented at the high-profile summit themed “Catalysing Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems,” celebrates Zetech’s unwavering commitment to research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
It also cements the institution’s place as a fast-rising technology hub shaping transformative education and societal impact in Kenya.
At the heart of this achievement is Zetech’s Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology (iZET) Hub, the University’s flagship centre for nurturing creative ideas into viable enterprises.
Operating under the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Postgraduate Studies, the Hub has spearheaded initiatives such as the Wezesha Incubation Programme and forged partnerships with industry experts to support student-led ventures that solve real-world challenges.
Over the years, the iZET Hub has become a launchpad for creativity, hosting hackathons, mentorship programmes, workshops, and community-driven projects. By blending academic theory with practical application, the Hub has equipped learners with entrepreneurial skills and digital capabilities while delivering measurable social impact.
“This recognition affirms the resilience, creativity, and ingenuity of our students,” said Prof. Njenga Munene, Vice Chancellor of Zetech University. “The iZET Hub is tangible proof of how universities can function as powerful engines of innovation, preparing young leaders who design solutions for both national and global challenges.”
The CEIL Summit 2025, graced by senior government officials and industry stakeholders, underscored the crucial role of student-led innovation in driving Kenya’s economic transformation.
Head of Public Service Felix Koskei used the platform to rally support for establishing student-driven innovation ecosystems nationwide, aligning with the government’s vision of a knowledge-based economy.
Professor Munene said Zetech University’s recognition not only spotlights the power of student-led ecosystems but also reflects the institution’s long-term vision of producing job creators, innovators, and leaders who can impact society sustainably.
