The tragic incident has claimed a total of 26 lives, with several others hospitalized and dozens still missing as search and rescue operations continue.
“We lost 14 students in the incident. It’s really unfortunate. We are really sorry for the families and all the affected persons,” Bitok confirmed.
The PS stated that the government is doing everything possible to restore normalcy in schools within the affected valley, aiming to ensure that learners can continue their examinations with minimal interruptions.
“We have made a logistical arrangement for working very closely with our security agencies to ensure that all the students have been safely evacuated and all the students can be able to sit for their examinations without interruption,” he said.
