500 patients dead as a result of ongoing doctors strike, Azimio says

The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition has Tuesday claimed that over 500 patients have died as a result of the ongoing doctors’ strike that is on day 27.

In light of this, they are calling for the immediate resignation of Health Cabinet Secretary, Susan Nakhumicha from office for gross incompetency in mishandling the doctors’ strike.

According to the coalition, the strike has disrupted healthcare services leaving many patients without essential care.

“The ”WON’T PAY; CAN’T PAY” parody that broke the extended silence speaks volumes about the regime’s regard for our healthcare workers,” they say.

To avert the crisis, Azimio states that the government should fully support the implementation of the NADCO recommendations to reduce the travel budget by fifty percent (50%) among other recommendations.

In addition, they suggest that President William Ruto must also shelve the reintroduction of the Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) into the Public Service and adopt a zero-based budgeting approach to enhance accountability and reduce wastages, corruption, and theft of public money.

In conclusion, the coalition said that the KK regime must honour any outstanding Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) between the government and the doctors union.

“They must also invest in the necessary infrastructure and medical supplies to improve the country’s healthcare services,” they noted.

On fake fertilisers, they called for the KK regime to immediately compensate all the farmers who have been sold the fertilizer calling for the immediate resignation of CS for Agriculture Mithika Linturi.

They further noted that they were keenly watching and following the actions of the KK regime on these and other national concerns including the high cost of living.

“Failure to immediately resolve the health crisis; compensate the farmers for their losses in the fake fertilizer scam; and, the immediate resignation of the said CSs; Azimio will not hesitate to join the already striking workers on the streets and mobilize Kenyans in exercising their rights to assemble, demonstrate, picket and petition,” they stated.
