60 Days to the AFCON 2025 Kickoff in Morocco

The 35th AFCON finals will be held in Morocco from 21st December 2025, to 18th January 2026, exactly in two months’ time from today.

The 52 matches are spread across nine stadiums located in six cities in the North African Country.

It will mark the 2nd time the biennial competition has returned to the Royal Kingdom of Morocco since 1988.

The administrative city of Rabat enjoys a giant share of matches allocation, having four of the nine tournament venues.

The venues in Rabat include; the 69,500 Prince Moulay Abdellah which will host among other fixtures the opening match pitting hosts Morocco against Comoros on 21st December and the final.

In total, the venue will stage seven matches, including all three Morocco’s Group A fixtures, one round of 16, one quarter-final, one semifinal, and the final on 18th January 2026.

Rabat’s other stadiums are the 22,000 Stade Moulay Hassan, which will host two matches pitting Algeria in Group E and one round of 16 matches.

Stade Al Barid which has a capacity of 18,000 people also in Rabat city has been allocated four matches; two group D fixtures featuring DR Congo and the East African derby pitting Tanzania and Uganda in group C as well as 1 round of 16 matches.

With a capacity of 21,000 Rabat Olympic stadium will stage three group matches with two in group C featuring Tunisia VS Uganda and Tanzania vs Tunisia and Benin vs Botswana in Group D.

Grand Stade d’Agadir in the port city of Agadir city has a capacity of 45,480 and will play host to 8 matches ,three in group B and 3in group F,1 round of 16 and 1 quarter final fixture.

Mohammed V stadium in the commercial city of Casablanca is the 3rd largest stadium of all the nine venues with a capacity of 67,000 . Six group matches will be played in the stadium.

Fes stadium within the cultural city of Fes is a 45,000 seater stadium and will play host to all Nigeria’s group C fixtures as well as 1 round of 16 match.

Grand stade de Marrakech in the tourist city of Marrakech has a capacity of 45,240 and has been allocated six group matches,1 round of 16, and 1 quarter final.

Defending Champions Ivory Coast will play all their Group F matches at the Marrakech Stadium.

Grand stade de Tangier in North Western Morocco, situated 40km away from Spain, is the largest venue for this year’s AFCON.

Tangier will host all Group D matches involving Senegal,1 round of 16 match,1 quarter final and 1 semi-final.

The venue is the largest, with a capacity of 75,600.

A total of 52 matches involving 24 teams will be played in this year’s edition including 12 past champions
