Senators probing the grounds for the impeachment of Kericho Governor Dr. Erick Mutai will hold their second hearing today (Thursday).
The embattled Governor pleaded not guilty to three grounds of impeachment brought against him to the Senate by the County Assembly of Kericho.
In his second impeachment hearing before the Senate, Mutai is accused of gross violation of the Constitution, abuse of office and gross misconduct that includes leading mob to invade private land and designating it dumpsite against court order, intimidation, harassment and unfair dismissal of County staff.
Yesterday, Kericho County Assembly lined up witnesses to testify on allegations of harassment and unfair dismissal by the Governor.
They were however taken to task by the defence lawyers to explain circumstances under which they were allegedly sacked.
The defence lawyers had raised preliminary objection to the motion saying the threshold requirement of two thirds of the total MCAs was not met and therefore no vote occurred at the County Assembly.
The Speaker, however, ruled the matter would be heard in the case.
