Detectives have arrested another suspect in connection with the ongoing crackdown on a livestock theft syndicate operating across Embu and Kerugoya counties.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI ) said Anthony Macharia Nyaga, who is a receiver of stolen livestock, was arrested in Embu town.

His arrest comes just hours after three other individuals linked to the same ring were taken into custody.

The operation began with the arrest of Alex Mwangi and Macharia in Embu, where officers impounded a Toyota Sienta, the vehicle allegedly used to ferry stolen animals at night.

The dragnet then extended to Kerugoya town, where detectives apprehended Mercy Nyaguthi Njiru. A search of her premises led to the recovery of a heifer suspected to have been stolen from Kianjoma, a Friesian cow believed to have been stolen from Karatina, ten goats, five kids, and one sheep.

The officers confirmed that all three suspects are in custody as investigations continue, with the trio expected to face charges once processing is complete.
