Raila Odinga’s spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, has dismissed reports regarding the former Prime Minister’s health as false and malicious propaganda orchestrated by political rivals.
Onyango accused a faction led by impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, along with former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and ex-Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, of spreading “fabricated claims and AI-generated images” to mislead the public about Raila’s health and whereabouts.
“The same team that fought Raila’s African Union Commission bid is now peddling falsehoods about his health, hoping to bully him into backing their political fights against President William Ruto,” Onyango stated.
He clarified that the ODM leader is in good health, has not travelled to Europe for treatment, and is currently on one of his routine foreign trips. Onyango stressed that Raila has always been transparent about his health and would inform Kenyans if he were unwell.
“Raila has a long tradition of being open about his health. He informed the country during his 2010 procedure as Prime Minister and again during his 2021 Covid diagnosis. He would do the same today,” he said.
Onyango further reaffirmed Raila’s commitment to the Broad-Based Government and his continued cooperation with President William Ruto, stating that the former Prime Minister remains focused on unity and national stability.
“Home or away, Raila remains steadfast in his belief that extreme threats to the nation require extreme compromises in the interest of the country,” Onyango added.
He remarked that the opposition’s frustration arises from Raila’s determination to support a united, inclusive administration rather than engage in partisan politics.
“The hope of this team then and now is to bully Hon. Raila into providing a back for them to ride on in their struggle against President William Ruto,” the Spokesperson changed
