Ruto, Uhuru, Obasanjo lead mourners at Raila Odinga’s funeral service

President William Ruto, Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo are among top leaders attending the interment service of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The ceremony is being held at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Bondo, attended by dignitaries from Kenya and beyond.

Government officials at the event include Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, several Cabinet Secretaries, and Governors Anyang’ Nyong’o and Johnson Sakaja among others.

Jessica Magufuli, daughter of the late Tanzanian President John Magufuli, and Elizabeth Macheka Tsvangirai, widow of the late Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai are also in attendance.

Ugandan and DRC delegations have also arrived in Kenya for the burial.

Uganda is represented by former Prime Minister and Special Envoy of President Yoweri Museveni Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who is accompanied by Minister of State for Regional Cooperation John Mulimba and Defence Attaché Brig. Gen. McDans Kamugira.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is represented by a delegation led by Minister of State for Industry Aimé Boji Sangara.

 

Raila Odinga will be laid to rest at a private ceremony at his Kang’o Ka Jaramogi home.
