Attorney General Justin Muturi has emphasised the critical role of tree planting in mitigating climate change and its associated impacts, citing the urgent need for collective action.
Speaking while spearheading a successful tree planting initiative in Kona Baridi, Ngong, Kajiado County, the AG underscored the importance of planting trees as a long-term solution to environmental resilience.
Muturi said his office has committed to planting trees every second Monday of the month for the next six months, in line with the Cabinet directive, which mandates every ministry to designate a day within the next six months for tree planting activities.
This initiative aims to inspire similar actions across government agencies and foster a culture of environmental stewardship.
The tree planting exercise was conducted in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Solicitor General Shadrack Mose and Environment Principal Secretary Festus Ngeno.
Muturi expressed gratitude to all participants and stakeholders involved in making the tree planting exercise a success and urged all Kenyans to join hands in safeguarding the environment for future generations.
