Kenya, making their debut in the biennial tournament for domestic players, sailed through to the last 8 without kicking a ball on Thursday night after two-time champions DR Congo beat Angola 2-0 in Group A to send them crashing out.
In an earlier match played at the Nyayo stadium in Morocco, also a two-time champion, defeated Zambia 3-1 to move to joint 2nd in the group with 6 points.
The Harambee Stars, who top the group on 7 points, will face Zambia this Sunday at the Kasarani Stadium as they aim to finish 1st and enjoy the privilege of hosting their quarter-final.
Should they win Group A, Kenya will face Group B’s 1st runners-up at Kasarani, and if they finish 2nd in Group A, they will move to Dar es Salaam to face Tanzania. In the last 8.
