The 8th edition of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship is set to conclude this weekend with a mouth-watering grand finale match pitting two-time champions Morocco against 2022 bronze medallist Madagascar.
The final will be staged at the newly refurbished 48,000-seater Kasarani Stadium on Saturday, 30th August, from 6 pm.
It will be preceded by the bronze medal match featuring Senegal and Sudan on Friday at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, in Kampala, Uganda.
A total of 19 teams took part in this year’s edition, which, for the first time, was co-hosted by three countries, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, since the 2nd of August.
42 matches out of 44 have been played so far, with 83 goals scored.
Morocco’s Oussama Lamlioui is leading the race for the golden boot, while three players have scored three goals each: Sofiane Bayazid of Algeria, South Africa’s Thabiso Kutumela, and Allan Okello of Uganda.
11 other players have scored 2 goals each.
