World Champions Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet and Emmanuel Wanyonyi have been shortlisted for the 2025 Women’s Track and Men’s Track Athlete of the Year Awards.

Kipyegon broke her 1500m world record before retaining her 1500m world title at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships and bagged the silver medal in 5000m.

Chebet had a stellar performance this year, winning gold medals in both 5,000m and 10,000m in addition to setting a new world record in 5,000m.

The Kenyan duo will battle for the gong alongside Dutch Femke Bol, American triple world champion Melissa Jefferson Wooden and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of the USA.

Wanyonyi won his first global title over the two-lap race in Tokyo last month.

The Olympic champion also posted four of the top six performances of the year and retained his 800m Diamond League title.

Wanyonyi has been nominated alongside Americans Rai Benjamin, Cordell Tinch, Noah Lyles and Jimmy Gressier of France.

The vote to determine the Track Athlete of the Year finalists is now open on World Athletics social media platforms – on Facebook, Instagram and X – and will close on 19 October.
