Cherotich blasts to another World Lead in Paris

Olympic bronze medalist Faith Cherotich, put on a masterclass performance to win her 3rd Diamond League of the season, blasting to 8:53.37, a World and a PB in 3,000msc, at the Meeting De Paris on Friday night.

Former Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai of Uganda finished 2nd in 8:54.41, as Ethiopian Sembo Alemayew, finished a distant 3rd, clocking 9:01.22.

Nelly Chepchirchir won the 1500m in SB 3:57.02, ahead of Sarah Healy of Ireland, and Birke Haylom of Ethiopia, who finished in 2nd and 3rd positions in 3:57.15 and 3:57.50, respectively.

Kenyan Olympian Susan Ejore finished 8th.

Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech put on a gallant performance to set a new World U20 Record in 1500m, clocking 3:27.72, finishing 2nd in a non-diamond race behind the French Azzedine Habz.

Two-time Commonwealth champion Wycliff Kinyamal, finished lowly in 11th position in the 1500m race won by Spanish Mohamed Ataoui in 1:42.73.

Kenyan men also performed dismally in the 5000m, with former world silver medallist Jacob Krop finishing 12th as Boaz Kiprugut failed to finish.

Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia emerged victorious in 12:47.84.

Former Olympic silver medallist Julius Yego managed a 6th finish with an 80.26m throw; the event was won by Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra from India with an 88.16m throw.

The 9th meet will be held on the 5th of next month in Eugene, USA.
