Kenya’s Cherotich targets 3rd victory in Paris Diamond League on Friday

Olympic bronze medalist Faith Cherotich, will be in search of her third victory in the 3,000msc of the season at the Meeting De Paris  Diamond League on Friday night.

Cherotich, who is also a world bronze medalist, registered her 1st diamond victory in Doha on the 16th of last month with a world-leading time before following it up with another world lead and a meeting record 9:2.60, at the Oslo Bislett Games on the 12th of this month.

The former World Under-2 champion leads the standings on 16 points, 2, ahead of the Kenyan-born Olympic champion Winfred Yavi of Bahrain.

Cherotich will face stiff competition from the Tokyo Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai of Uganda and her compatriot Caren Chebett.

Olympians Susan Ejore and Nelly Chepchirchir will compete in the 1,500m race.

In the men’s competition, world bronze medalist Jacob Krop and Boaz Kiprugut will face current leader Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia.

Two-time Commonwealth champion Wycliff Kinyamal and Nicholas Kiplangat will participate in the 800m, as former World champion Julius Yego participates in the javelin throw.
