Police officers from Kikuyu and bomb squad specialists have camped in Nduma following the discovery of an 80mm artillery shell, suspected to have been left behind from the colonial era.

The device was discovered by a resident, David Muiruri, while tilling one of his farms.

The officers have since carried away the explosive due to its high potential for destruction and are currently searching for a safer location for controlled detonation.

While confirming the incident, Kikuyu Sub-County Police Commander Joseph Ndege said the device is highly explosive and urged Kenyans to exercise extra caution when handling suspicious objects.
