Ulinzi Starlets defeated Kibera Soccer Women 1-0 in Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League encounter played Wednesday at Ulinzi Complex,Nairobi.
Kibera Soccer who came into the match with an aim of consolidating their slim lead at the top of the grid fell behind to Fasila Adhiambo’s 47th minute fortuitous strike.
Kibera soccer goalkeeper let the ball slip through her fingers to gift Ulinzi the lead.Kibera Soccer efforts to comeback were fruitless with their 67th minute equalizer being ruled out for offside.
Ulinzi Starlets missed two clear chances a glancing header from an unmarked Cecilia Rasoha going wide before JoyKing Lady missed from the spot with seconds to play.
Despite the loss Kibera Soccer assistant coach Samuel Njuguna remained adamany that they were still in contention for the title and that the race was not over yet. Kibera drops to third with 38 points.
‘’We failed to be clinical and wasted a lot of chances,we will go and rectify the mistakes and come back stronger.The league is still open with two matches to go we can still be champions and the race is still tight’’ Njuguna said in a post match interview.
The win boosted Ulinzi chances of clinching the tittle.Ulinzi lies second three points adrift of Kenya Police who are top with 42 points .
‘’The game was good and had a few chances and the one who took advantage of the chances created won the day.We will be facing Kisumu All Starlets in our last match and we will be eyeing to finish stronger’’ Ulinzi starlets head coach Collins Ochieng remarked.
In another encounter defending champions Kenya Police Bullets tightened their grip on the pole position after edging out Bungoma Queens 1-0 at Bungoma National Polytechnic grounds,Bungoma.
