Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called on women to remain strong and resilient as they face the challenges of life, assuring them of her government’s continued support and empowerment initiatives.

Speaking at the annual St. Monica Celebration Mass for the Catholic Women Association held at Katoloni Pope Paul Seminary, Governor Wavinya described women as the backbone of families, urging them to hold their households together with courage and determination.

“From October, we will begin another phase of empowerment where we shall issue tools ranging from chairs, tents, and carwash machines to support women in building sustainable livelihoods,” Said Wavinya.

Governor Wavinya further revealed that her administration is in the final stages of establishing a County Empowerment Fund, which is currently before the County Assembly and will soon be operational to benefit women and other vulnerable groups.

In addition to her commitment to women, Governor Wavinya also reassured farmers of her administration’s dedication to boosting agriculture in the county. She disclosed that the county has set aside a budget for the purchase of drought-resistant seeds in readiness for the upcoming rainy season.

“We have allocated funds for the purchase of seeds, and I urge all farmers to register under recognized farmer groups, as distribution will be done through these groups,” she stated.

Governor Wavinya emphasized that her government’s priority is to empower every household in Machakos County through practical, sustainable programs aimed at improving livelihoods and ensuring food security.
