Host Morocco will play Mali in the 16th final of the African Cup of Nations under 17 set for the 19th of this month at the Stade El Bachir in Mohammedia.
Morocco edged Côte d’Ivoire 4-3 on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes of regulation time in the semifinal yesterday night in a tactical match with both sides displaying a highly disciplined encounter.
Mali also booked their place in Saturday’s final after brushing aside a highly flying Burkina Faso 2-0 in the other semi.
Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire will meet in the bronze match, which will curtain-raise the final.
The top ten countries from the tournament will represent the continent in the FIFA U17 World Cup set for late this year in Qatar.
