The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) has implemented a Certificate per Part award for the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) exams in a bold step aimed at improving professional recognition and growth in the human resources area.

The announcement came as the Board released the long-awaited results for the April, 2025, examination series, impacting over 1,500, HR professionals and candidates nationwide.

Speaking during the official results release ceremony, Chairperson of the Board, CS Commissioner Sharon Kisire, commended the dedication and resilience of the candidates, emphasising that the evolution of HRMPEB’s certification process is rooted in the need to remain relevant, responsive, and supportive of continuous professional development.

“This milestone marks not just the release of exam results, but a transformation in how we recognise competence,” CS Kisire stated. “The introduction of a certificate per part recognises effort and achievement at every stage of the CHRP journey. It allows candidates to celebrate progress, gain confidence, and build credibility within the profession.”

Under the new system, CHRP candidates will now receive a formal certificate upon the successful completion of each part of the program, CHRP Part I, II, and III , as opposed to waiting until the final qualification is attained.

This phased recognition not only boosts morale but also increases the employability and visibility of professionals in the marketplace, even as they continue with the remainder of the program.

According to HRMPEB CEO, CHRP Margaret Nguu, the April, 2025, exam series saw a marked improvement in performance across several HR technical areas, particularly in Labour Laws, Performance Management, and Strategic Human Resource Management.

“We are witnessing a growing commitment to excellence, and the data shows a significant number of candidates have successfully completed Part I and II,” he noted. “These candidates will now be issued certificates to reflect this achievement.”

The CHRP qualification continues to grow in stature as the gold standard for HR professionals in Kenya, with growing interest from both fresh graduates and working professionals seeking structured, competency-based certification.

The Board’s recent reforms, including exam digitization, curriculum alignment with modern HR practices, and now the phased certification model, are part of a broader transformation agenda to align HR practice with global standards.

The announcement was met with excitement from the HR community, with several industry stakeholders expressing support for the new model.

Many hailed it as a timely step toward recognizing the dynamic learning paths of today’s professionals.

With this innovation, HRMPEB reaffirms its role not just as an examining body, but as a champion of progressive and inclusive growth for human resource practitioners across the country.
