Iranian Ambassador to Kenya lauds Imam Khomeini’s legacy on 36th anniversary

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kenya, Ali Gholampour, has praised the late Imam Khomeini’s legacy as undeniably significant and globally remembered, particularly in the context of modern Iranian history.

Speaking at the cultural council of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nairobi during the commemoration of Khomeini’s 36th anniversary, Gholampour said that the legacy and actions of Iran’s founding fathers remain alive and effective worldwide.

The event, themed ‘Religious Democracy from the viewpoint of Imam Khomeini; formed the agenda of deliberations in the context of Islamic political philosophy.

Ambassador Gholampour said Imam Khomeini’s legacy is undeniably significant in the context of modern Iranian history.

His sentiments were echoed by the cultural counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr Ali Pourmarjan.

Other leaders who also addressed the gathering called for the conceptualisation of religious democracy from the viewpoint of Imam Khomeini

Imam Ruhollah Khomeini was a central figure in shaping Iran’s history and led the 1979 Islamic Revolution that overthrew the U.S.-backed monarchy of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and established the Islamic Republic of Iran.
